I noticed this painting as I was looking over this artist's magnificent works and I was totally drawn to it. Something about it reminded me of my first impressions of winter from back when I was a child, and the power of this image to evoke that sort of a memory in a person I found to be quite significant. I say this because one of the most amazing qualities of art is its' power to transport us to another time and place... but the finest works can have the added quality of bringing us back to a certain time and place in our own lives. Winter is the kind of thing that has a powerful resonance with many people... you either love it or hate it, and me I am sort of in the middle when it comes to winter. I love the beauty of it but I have never been a fan of the cold. But I do love beautifully done images of winter because they contain all of winter's beauty but fortunately none of its' chill! This image has just that sort of realism to it, but not so much realism that one would see it as being aught more or less than what it is: an image. But in this image's case the beauty of it totally calls to the senses and fills one with wonder! From the dead (I prefer the term "slumbering") plants in the foreground to the trees in the distance and the simply gorgeous rainbow hues of the skies above this is a scene that will stay with you even if you only casually glace at it for but a moment. I can find nothing about this artwork that is anything less than flawless and so it is my pleasure to write this glowing and honest critique of what I deem to be a classic piece of artistic beauty! Great work, and I hope to see more like it from this artist in the future. Vision: This image IS a vision of sorts, and a powerful one so I am going to give it full marks in this category. Originality: I must go for three stars here since winter scenes (whilst beautiful) are quite abundant and there are a great many out there although I must confess this is one of my favorites of the lot. Technique: Flawless! Again, full marks. And last but not least, Impact: Full marks, since this really wowed me with the sheer power of the image and its' impression upon me. And that concludes my critique of this great work.
